When to test

The test used by Ease are 4th generation HIV tests, which test for IgG antibodies and p24 antigen.

The test determines a patient’s HIV status by testing for the presence or absence of HIV antibodies (Immunoglobulin G) and p24 viral antigens. p24 antigens are a component of the HIV virus, and the body will produce HIV antibodies (IgG) in response to the presence of the p24 antigens. If properly conducted after the window period, the test is able to determine HIV infection with high accuracy and reliability.

After you've received your test results, you will be able to connect with and discuss your results with one of our doctors over a teleconsultation at no additional cost.

HIV testing at a glance

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a type of STI that is typically passed from person to person through sexual contact.

What is HIV?

How is HIV transmitted?

HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus) is a virus that attacks cells necessary for normal immunity functions, resulting in the patient becoming more vulnerable to other infections and diseases.

The most common form of HIV transmission is unprotected sexual intercourse. The virus can enter the body through the lining of the vagina, vulva, penis, rectum, or mouth during sexual activity.

What happens if HIV is left untreated?

Why should I get tested for HIV?

If untreated, HIV can lead to Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), in which the body’s immune system is badly damaged due to the virus. Although there is currently no cure for HIV, there are treatments available, such as antiretroviral therapy, which can suppress the HIV virus and slow the progression of the disease.

If you are at risk, getting tested is a crucial first step to early diagnosis and early treatment with medication that may delay the progression of the HIV infection to AIDS. Furthermore, getting tested and knowing your HIV status also prevents you from transmitting the disease to others.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make an order for someone else?

Unfortunately not. For legal and regulatory reasons, we need the person who is undergoing the test to create their own account with their details, and to request the testing service from us. If your partner, friend or relative needs to use our services, please have them create an account or reach out to us.

What type of HIV testing does Ease offer?

The HIV tests we offer at Ease are 4th generation HIV tests that test for IgG antibodies and p24 antigen. These determine a patient’s HIV status by testing for the presence or absence of HIV antibodies (Immunoglobulin G) and p24 viral antigens. p24 antigens are a component of the HIV virus, and the body will produce HIV antibodies (IgG) in response to the presence of the p24 antigens. If properly conducted after the window period, the test is able to determine HIV infection with high accuracy and reliability. Following the test results, you will be able to connect with and discuss your results and other concerns with our doctors at no additional cost.

Does a negative test result indicate that I am not infected?

While the HIV blood tests that our lab partner performs has high accuracy, a negative test result does not always indicate non-infection as the window period (time between HIV infection and when a test can actually detect it) for HIV differs from person to person. If an HIV test was conducted within 3 months after a potential HIV exposure and the result is negative, it is recommended that the patient gets re-tested again to have full confirmation of non-infection.

How will my test results be communicated to me?

Once ready, test results will be communicated to you via email, which will be password protected and can only be accessed by you.

Will Ease be able to prescribe medication for HIV, if needed?

Unfortunately, at the moment Ease only provides HIV testing services. However, after you receive your results you will be able to speak to a doctor for no additional cost about your situation and discuss next steps. While we do not provide treatment for HIV, the doctor will be able to provide you with guidance on where you might be able to seek treatment.

Will I be able to discuss results with a doctor?

Yes, our HIV testing service includes a free teleconsultation with one of our doctors at no additional cost. You will have the option to sign up for the teleconsultation upon receiving your test results. The doctor will be able to explain your results to you and guide you through the process of getting treatment.
